Diabetic footwear and inserts

Individuals with diabetes must give special care to their feet. Approximately 60 to 70% of people with diabetes suffer from mild to severe forms of nerve damage which can lead to loss of sensation in the extremeties, most often the feet. Because of this, diabetics are at great risk for developing foot problems including blisters, calluses, ulcers, deformities and infections. Complications from these problems make diabetes the number one cause of non-traumatic amputations in the United States. Proper foot care is essential to reduce the risk of these complications.
